Community Education

Dakota Plains Legal Services, through a grant from the Indian Land Tenure Foundation, is offering community meetings for trust land owners in South Dakota.

The meetings focus on protecting a tribal member’s family Indian land interests and options tribal members have to preserve trust land interests including how to:

Resolve issues of multiple owners in trust land (fractionation)
Consolidate current trust land holdings
Retain current trust land and the income received from it for life
Ensure who will receive your land in the future
Avoid allowing someone else to decide who will get your family’s Indian land when you pass

Meetings are on going, to find out when a meeting will be held in your area, or to schedule a meeting for your group, please call Janet at 800-658-2297.
